The Story Behind Pumpkin Spice Mom

Michael Burton and his wife, Karla, own *Karla's Coffee Cart*, the top woman-owned coffee catering company in Los Angeles. In September 2023, they introduced pumpkin-flavored drinks, which sparked excitement among their customers. Michael was surprised to learn just how big a deal pumpkin spice season was.

One day, after a catering event, Michael picked up their son from the babysitter near Vermont Avenue by the 101 Freeway. During the drive, he thought of a funny story about a woman who drinks so many pumpkin spice lattes that she turns into a pumpkin, and her son has to find a way to save her. When he shared the idea with Karla, she burst out laughing, and he knew right then it was a story worth telling.
